With regard to various makes of tractors, we cover the field, so to speak, including John Deere, Farmall/International, Ford, Ferguson, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline, Allis Chalmers, Massey Harris, Fordson, Case, Cockshutt, and even Hart-Parr as well as Gibson. Horsepower ratings vary from as little as 10 to over 100. As relates to age, we have tractors as old as the early 1930’s and some as new as the late 1960’s, still considered antiques. Within these weight classifications we currently subdivide tractors according to age and horsepower, an attempt to make pulling fairer for all participants. We are eagerly awaiting the 4th of July to parade our wares and entertain the public with an outstanding pulling event following the morning parade. Until last year, TVAPA’s Melba festivities were chaired by TVAPA charter member and local farming icon, Ron Blickenstaff. He may be reached at 989-0499 if you have a question about TVAPA and its participation in Melba’s patriotic parade and pull. This year’s TVAPA participation in Melba’s “Old Tyme” 4th of July celebration is chaired by long-time member Tee Hurd of Nampa. Our next adventure will be to parade and pull at Melba’s “Old Tyme” 4th of July celebration. Pursuant to this calling, we display antique tractors and occasionally various other pieces of equipment at many venues across Treasure Valley, most recently at Motorfest at the Western Idaho Fair grounds where we added variety to the car show with five beautifully restored antique tractors. TVAPA and many of its members also are focused on collecting, refurbishing, exhibiting, and educating the public regarding antique tractors and other forms of historical equipment. This year we have also ventured into pickup truck pulling which has generated some new interest on the part of participants and spectators alike. Over the years this non-profit organization has morphed somewhat to include lawn tractor, modified tractor, and this year ATV pulling using a smaller pulling sled than the one used by antiques and modified tractors. Treasure Valley Antique Power Association has been in existence for more than a quarter century, having been organized in 1990 by people who had an avid interest in old tractors and antique tractor pulls.
